John is more than deserving and we’re honored by his servanthood. What a legacy.
Here is the nomination letter that we submitted for him:
Newman’s Ambulance is more than pleased to nominate our Operations Supervisor, John Wilson, as this year’s First
Responder of the Year. John has been raising the bar since early in his career. His drive has always been to bring the best healthcare to our community, and it’s been both encouraging and inspiring to watch. John Wilson has an impressive background as a first responder beginning his career at Newman’s Ambulance/Jim’s Ambulance in 1980 as a basic EMT. John has served at least two departments or EMS companies throughout his career showing his commitment to the field and his desire to help others. In 1985, he joined the Tanner Williams Volunteer Fire Department and remained a member of the Department until 1993. During that time, John also began working at Courtaulds Fibers Safety Department in 1988. Throughout the 1990’s, John worked part-time at two EMS companies in Mississippi and one in Alabama. In 1992, he became a member of the Board of Trustees of Tanner Williams Volunteer Fire Department. The majority of John’s career was spent at Mobile Fire Rescue Department and Atlantic Marine/BAE Systems. John joined Atlantic Marine in 1994 serving as a Medical Tech II, where he initiated treatment for injured workers. John served as a Firefighter, EMT, and Hazmat Technician at Mobile Fire Rescue from 1996 until his retirement in 2017. During this time, John worked part-time at Newman’s Ambulance, and after retiring from BAE Systems in 2018, he joined Newman’s Ambulance full time as the Operations Supervisor. He also serves as an EMS Advisory Board member for Fortis College.
All of Newman’s stand amazed at all he has accomplished throughout the years and we’re excited to see his future
accomplishments. Our company and the community are better because of him. Congratulations from us to you on this
well-deserved award. The future is bright because
you are in it!
